August 1 is the Founding Day of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army. It originated from the Nanchang Uprising led by the Chinese Communists during the democratic revolution in China.
The Nanchang Uprising on August 1, 1927, started the first shot of the Communist Party of China’s armed resistance against the Kuomintang reactionaries, marking China entered a new era of armed revolution under the independent leadership of the Communist Party of China, marking the birth of China’s new type of people’s army.
Since its founding, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has gone through numerous difficulties and dangers. It has grown from a small and weak force to a multi-service force. It is forging ahead on the road of elite troops with Chinese characteristics and is becoming a Great Wall of steel for China to safeguard peace and development.

July 11, 1933, the provisional central government of the Chinese Soviet Republic according to the Central Revolutionary Military Commission on June 30, decided to August 1 for the founding anniversary of the Chinese workers and Peasants Red Army.

On June 15, 1949, the Military Commission of the Chinese People’s Revolution issued an order to take “eight -” as the main symbol of the flag and emblem of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army.
